Love and Acceptance of Our Church
Luke 12:39-49
Greetings Church Family,
I am always blown away by the love and acceptance of our church. We readily invite and include people from all walks of life; I am proud to serve you all as your pastor.
This past Sunday, we looked at Luke 12:39-49 where Jesus gave a slightly different message than his typical one of inclusion, love, forgiveness, and devotion. Here he told his followers that his message would bring not peace but a sword and not connectivity but division. We looked at the historical setting of these words and discovered that in the first and second century many Christians were denounced and rejected by their own families. Jesus said that when this occurs, we can always remember that his church would function as our family. We are told in scripture to seek to live in peace with everyone, but if anyone desires to sever their relationships with us, we must remember that Jesus’ community of believers are called to be the home, the brothers, the sister, mothers, or fathers for one another. I pray that by God’s grace we continue to be such a family.
