Every Tribe, Nation, and Language
Revelation 7:9
Greetings Church Family,
I have been thinking recently on the vision of the church before the throne of God in Revelation 7:9. In this passage, the author is privileged to see “a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, from all tribes and peoples and language.” From this, we see that the church is at its best when it overcomes barriers of strife from exclusion. When the church welcomes the diversity in which God has created us, we reflect a God that loves all people, all nations, and languages. This union is not contrived or coerced. It is welcomed because each person has been redeemed by Jesus. Each one has made a commitment to love and serve Jesus, our Lord and Savior. We welcome unity through diversity, because we share in the salvation of the Lamb of God. Jesus is a stronger bond than genetics, language, or social status. He makes individuals whole and communities whole. Therefore, the church is at its best when we embrace our diversity through the unity of the blood of Jesus Christ. I am thankful to be a part of such a welcoming and loving church that reflects such a diverse group of God’s people. May we regularly commit ourselves to the love for one another as brothers and sisters in Christ.
